All athlete development starts with physical literacy. The foundation is laid with the development of fundamental movement skills including catching, throwing, jumping, skipping and running.
Skill building incorporates the fundamental literacy skills and uses them to initiate sport specific skills such as striking, kicking, shooting, tackling and using equipment to execute a skill. It is adding bricks to the foundation physical literacy has built.
Training to become a better athlete will ultimately make you better at any sport you play. It will also help prevent injuries, burn out and other issues that early specialization causes. Play as many sports as you possible can. You can settle on one sport later.
